Black Bear Green Butt Spey
Hook: Alec Jackson black spey #5
Tying Thread: white 70 denier Ultra Thread
Tag: oval silver tinsel; #15 from Veniard
Butt: Gordon Griffith's fluorescent green floss
Tail: Golden Pheasant Crest
Body: black dubbing of choice (or yarn or floss.)
Ribbing: oval silver tinsel; #15 from Veniard
Hackle: Whiting black bronze grade spey cape Counter Rib: fine Lagartun oval silver tinsel
Wing: Black Bear
Head: Black 70 denier Ultra Thread; double whip finish and 3 coats of Cellire varnish

When counter ribbing, I use my dubbing needle to push the hackle out of the way when the wrap goes to the bottom of the fly. This is so the hackle does get trapped under the counter rib. The combination of the use of the dubbing needle and pushing the hackle out of the way allows the hackle to not get trapped. And it would be helpful to have a third hand at this point! <bg> This fly, regardless of how it is dressed, is very effective!
